User story: I got to hear from two people in my group, one trying to call me (as one would on a messaging app) and another trying to call someone else on Karrot by going into the profile. They were expecting it to work like other apps where you get some kind of push on your phone.
Complexity: not sure it works with the PWA, maybe we need an app?
Outcomes (or what needs to be done to move forward): investigate feasibility and complexity
From a quick look around it seems PWA’s can’t do high priority push notifications, and even then not sure it would be possible to make it appear like an incoming call.
I wonder, do platforms like zoom offer this functionality? (proactively call someone, as opposed to organising a call with a link).
I think it might be a case of needing to set user expectations on what the calling feature is…
Another direction is having a button to open the phones dialer with the users phone number, if they have one there. I think that is possible, and maybe solves what the person wanted…
And maybe better to remove the video button to a call a person on karrot entirely…
That is probably the best and most viable option for now
