Discussion

  • Karrot days

    • Do we need a prototype?
    • Defining the challenge → Breaking the Silo - 1. Defining the Challenge - #3 by nicksellen
      • nick: a lot of dots on the public social media, not overwheming ppl, consumer culture, advocacy/outreach.
      • which bit to focus on? to go forward with? prototype or…? How aligned we are with the needs of group? How we make sure its acountable with the groups?
    • extract some bits from the map and work with the people during Karrot days, get some input and decide to focus on something more specific
    • prototype vs having sth more open: more open might lead to sth that can get more flowing ideas but its nice to have a prototype and get more concrete comments/thoughts. Or could we have both?
    • prototype is nice and real, or too real and ppl might end up commenting on very ‘small’ things.
    • practicaly is it possible to build sth before the session?
    • how to communicate with the outside world and how we comunicate about what we are doing?
    • how to reach out to the people who might be interested in joining this session and the design process in general?
      • we start by inviting the usual suspects and also encourage them to look for people within their group
    • start with defining “breaking the silo” and have a description of the session
    • introducing the process itself and how we came up with the concept, present the map
    • use whiteboard on BBB with pdf as a background for people to mark favorite parts or sketch something together
  • draft of the session:

    • present briefly the concept “breaking the silo”, what we mean by that
    • present briefly the design process, how we’ve met, what we did so far
    • present the map
    • the sketch(es)
    • storyboard
    • input on the ideas/solutions
      • round of reactions from questions:
        • What was the most useful thing you’ve seen?
        • What was the least useful thing?
      • whiteboard “voting” (the dots?)
      • decide/discource on the 1st MVP
  • should we make ‘tailor’ made invitations for the btsilo sessions based on the input/comments we had with ppl from the varios groups?

Actions/Outcomes

  • continue planning Karrot days session on co-working

At a very positive session on this topic during Karrot Days we decide to focus on public activities.
