BENELUX + DE network meeting in Maastricht

Volunteers needed to initiate cross-border fs partnerships with other cities.

In the framework of the Erasmus Plus project “Sharing Food without Borders - International Foodsharing Collab” (foodsharing-akademie.org) we want to hold a networking meeting between foodsharing in BENELUX and Germany in Maastricht on Friday 24/11 or Friday 1/12, starting in the early afternoon for about 4-5 hours.

A maximum of 15 people are expected at the networking meeting in Maastricht, most of whom come from within a radius of about 300 km. The participants will be food savers from Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands, but also representatives of other organisations active in the field of food saving and sharing, Shareaty, or in the field of reducing food waste, foundation “Samen tegen Voedselverspilling” (Together against Food Waste). Our co-hosts in Maastricht are the Climate Action Network KAN Maastricht and the Green Office of Maastricht University.

On the one hand we want to talk about a follow-up project and on the other hand we want to initiate cross-border educational partnerships between foodsharing communities from different cities.

Who of you would have the time and interest to attend the meeting in Maastricht in order to get actively involved in initiating such fs partnerships for their home district? Whether it will be 24.11. or 1.12. is still to be decided. The date survey is still running.

If you are interested, please contact me and I can send you the date survey and further information.

yesterday I talked with Stefan K. I’m planning on going there

INVITATION FOR FRIDAY 24 NOV, 2 PM, MAASTRICHT:

Dear interested food savers and multipliers,

In the framework of the Erasmus+ project “Sharing Food without Borders - International Foodsharing Collab” (foodsharing-akademie.org) we want to hold a networking meeting of foodsharing in BENELUX and Germany in Maastricht on Friday, 24.11., starting at 2 pm for about 4-5 hours. The place is Maastricht Sustainability Hub, address: Sint Hubertuslaan 12, 6211 KD Maastricht, Netherlands.

On the one hand, we want to talk about a follow-up project (application deadline would be March 2024) in the Erasmus+ programme and, on the other hand, to initiate cross-border educational partnerships between foodsharing communities from different cities. The earliest the follow-up project could start would be in September 2024. The application in the last round until 4 October was unfortunately too short, so shortly after the foodsharing barcamp and festival in Luxembourg in August. In addition, our Belgian project partner dropped out as they will stop their activities altogether.

The follow-up project is mainly intended to deepen the already started exchange and networking work in food waste and food rescue education in Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg and to extend it to the Netherlands. The aim of the project would be to establish longer-term educational partnerships between food sharing places in the different countries.

As an “output product” and as a means of disseminating the results, we have considered the conception of a multilingual travelling exhibition to raise awareness about food waste, food rescue and food appreciation. The whole thing would be accompanied by multimedia online offers on the topics, which the users could call up via a QR code in the exhibitions. With these additional online offers, the recipients could delve deeper into the topics and get even more involved in the level of action (becoming active against food waste). This is only a first idea. If the interests and abilities of the participants in Maastricht lie elsewhere, we could also do something else.

We would be happy if you had time and interest to attend the networking meeting. Those who have still registered by mail and date survey, please register by e-mail to this address.

Whether online participation is possible is still being clarified. In any case, we will try to make it possible. But if you can come in presence, please also come to Maastricht. A meeting in presence to get to know each other has some advantages compared to online.

Kind regards,

Jonas

The network meeting will be on Friday 24 November, 2 pm in Maastricht. If you are interested to join, please write me until 20 November latest.
